North Perth council looked into options in terms of implementing a green bin composting program within the area.
Among the options includes offering a curbside green bin service.
Mark Hackett, Manager of Environmental Services says the Bluewater Recycling Program has grown over its years to be in a position to have a curbside green bin composting service.
“While they had the ability to collect organic material, they had no access to any processing facility and now they have 2 facilities they are able to utilize and are happy to be offering a green bin program.” said Hackett.
Some discussion did take place such as figuring out the collection system which as it was written was to have waste and recycling be collected on a biweekly schedule with green bins done weekly.
Council has directed staff to look further into the implementing a green bin organic collection service.
