North Perth council is pooling their support to the Township of Perry who is calling for the removal of HST/GST from new homes.
The township is calling for those tax removals for new homes purchased as primary residences in hopes to address housing affordability and calling on both the province and federal government to act.
This came in the docket for North Perth council with councilor Lee Ann Andriessen saying this removal is something that should be in place for several years.
“I believe this should be in place actually for a minimum of 5 years while the next generation tries to raise money to purchase their own homes” said Andriessen.
Council was in favour who will circulate their support provincially, federally as well as locally to MP John Nater and MPP Matthew Rae.
