The North Huron Food Share reported a 77 percent increase of those in need for food boxes last month in comparison to last years numbers.
This isn’t overly shocking as many in 2020 lost employment or saw a severe cut in pay as many across the country were turning to food share programs and banks for help. North Huron reports a total increase of 23 percent with a sharp leap in seniors and new residents reaching out.
Those in need of help were able to get the support they needed and board members from North Huron Food Share are praising the community drive from residents who made donations and fulfilled the needs of the community.
