The students are packing their bags and heading back to school on Tuesday.

Police will be out in increased presence to ensure drivers slow down and give space for school buses and stop for flashing red lights.

Among some new changes for this year is the addition of amber lights on all school buses across the province.

John Chapman from Newry Coach Lines says the new lights on buses will add an extra layer of safety for everyone.

“With the amber lights saying caution, something is about to change hopefully will make its safer for the motorists but more so important make it safer for our staff, drivers in the province and the children as they are preparing to get on or off the bus” said Chapman.

Chapman adds some hopeful moves are being made locally to have cameras installed on bus stops arms which needs approval from Perth County council.

Newry Coach Lines are still in need of those to join and become a bus driver.
