Perth County council has approved the official plan amendment to expand the boundary in Atwood, opening the door for a new subdivision.
The proposed subdivision is set to have 52 single detached dwelling units, 14 semi detached and 24 street fronting townhouses, totaling 90 units.
The property on the east side of Atwood is surrounded by agriculture lands with access to the development to be Woodview Drive with a future connection in the northwest.
Nathan Garland, Planner for Perth County responded to some comments made around the impact this would have on taxes as well as the school population.
“With respect to tax rate, the municipality sets the tax rates so the comments was it wouldn’t really affect the tax rate so much but more as the tax rates affected overall from the municipal end of things and not one specific development. Elma Public School does have the capacity which is located south of here.’ said Garland.
The development is still very much in its early stages with more steps needed including heading to North Perth council.
