North Perth’s new subdivision has its next set of street names with one honouring firefighter Raymond Walter, one of the firefighters who passed away battling a blaze in 2011.
North Perth council discussed the naming of five new street names for the new subdivision currently described as Lot 2 Concession 23.
Five names were proposed including McNally Drive, Makem Street East, Featherstone Street East, Barton Avenue North and Walter Street East. Featherstone and Barton were chosen as selected from the Historic Street Name Inventory.
Mayor Todd Kasenberg applauded the work of staff and the idea to honour Walter with a street name.
“The selection of the name Walter Street is a powerful testament to someone who has made a significant contribution to our community and I am grateful that this subdivision will include that name among the names of streets” said Kasenberg.
Little discussion was needed by council who flawlessly passed the proposal on the street names.
