New Proposal Delays North Perth Boundary Review

Decision to be pushed back to next month

A decision on whether to move grade 7 and 8 students from North Perth Westfield to Listowel DSS is again being delayed.

A decision, now moved to next month comes following a new proposal which factors in the various concerns about the original plan brought forward by parents.

The newest proposal now would keep grade 7 and 8 students at North Perth Westfield for a few more years while other boundary adjustments move forward as planned.

Superintendent Cheri Carter says many are saying students have been through a lot over the past few years and another change is just too much at this time.

While the new proposal acknowledges the public concerns, officials say this isn’t a complete solution.

New portables would be needed to address the growing population locally which comes with a cost of $180,000 each but Carter says cost is not a driving factor, just that the new modified plan is more of a shorter term solution.
