The Minto-Mapleton Family Health Team celebrated the grand opening of a new clinic in Harriston on Friday.
A ceremony to welcome the clinic was held in the morning which included local councilors, Mayor Dave Turton and MPP Matthew Rae and MP John Nater.
The new clinic located at the Minto Lions Medical Clinic was funded partially by a government grant of $1 million.
Minto-Mapleton Family Health Team Executive Director Shirley Borges says she is very happy to expand services across the area.
“We are so excited to be able to offer this access to the community, to primary care services, to a nurse practitioner, registered practical nurse and a receptionist.” said Borges
Mayor Dave Turton added its great to see the local health team leading the way for local healthcare and will be a boost to continue to grow the community.
“Our MPP said Minto-Mapleton is leading the way. When you talk about new coming here and buying houses and the new subdivisions going in across Minto-Mapleton and that’s what people say ‘what’s the healthcare like?’ its the number one question people ask when they think about moving here.” said Turton.
The clinic is now accepting new clients with each nurse practitioner taking on 800 new patients.
