A new childcare space could well on its way to Clifford, giving Minto a needed boost in that department.

KinderRise Academy attended council this week seeking support as the company applied for funding from the Canada Wide Early Learning and Childcare from Wellington County to build a daycare space in Clifford, offering 70 childcare spaces.

This would include 9 infant, 45 toddler and 16 preschool spaces. Kasia Baniak with KinderRise says this space would be an overall boost for the town.

“Establishing KinderRise Academy in Minto presents a long term strategic investment that aligns with the municipalities goals to attract and retain young families by increasing access to affordable, high quality childcare.” said Baniak.

Mayor Dave Turton said licensed child care is deeply needed in the community saying if people don’t have a space for their children then we’re in trouble.

Council gave their support for the application for the space proposed at 2 William Street North.
