MP John Nater took time this week to pay tribute to Simon Edgar Dickert of Mount Forest.
The seven year old lost his life on Christmas Eve after battling brain cancer for four years.
Dickert is remembered as a hero in the community with his campaign “Gold Bikes for Simon” which raised funds to support local families battling cancer and the Ronald McDonald House Charity.
Nater choked up in his address, saying Simon put the community first over himself.
“While he was thinking of everyone else, the community of Mount Forest was thinking of him. Through Gold Bikes for Simon, he became their superhero, raising funds and awareness for childhood cancer.” said Nater.
Simon was named as Mount Forests’ Youth Citizen of Year last year.
