While a shipment of AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine could arrive in Canada this week, a panel of vaccine experts are saying to not administer them to seniors.
While the vaccine was approved to be used on both adults and seniors, the National Advisory Committee on Immunization is concerned of the limited data on how the vaccine would work on older populations.
While countries have said they’ve used the AstraZeneca vaccine on their seniors with no issues, the committee is still expressing concern.
Alberta’s health minister said they would follow the advice of the committee and not administer the vaccine to anyone over 65.
There is no word how Ontario will address the committee’s concerns on the vaccine.
