Multiple Drivers arrested for Impaired Driving Over Long Weekend in Perth County

All accused were released from custody, their driver's license suspended for 90 days and their vehicle impounded for 7 days.

 

The Perth County OPP arrested four drivers over the Victoria Day Long weekend and charged them with alcohol & drug related offences.

On Sunday morning at 2:30am officers initiated a traffic stop due to a driver exhibiting signs of impaired operation on Perth Line 86 in North  Perth. A 23 year old male of Gowanstown was charged with impaired operation.

Then on Monday morning just after midnight a driver entered a RIDE program on Main Street North in Perth East. They were determined to have consumed cannabis earlier in the day and a standard field sobriety test was conducted. A 51 year old male of North Perth was charged with impaired operation and possession of over 30 g of dried cannabis.

Then at 5 pm later on Monday another driver entered a RIDE program on Perth Line 20 in West Perth. The driver showed signs of alcohol consumption and failed a subsequent test with a screening device. A 68 year old female of Dashwood was charged with operation while impaired 80 plus.

Then on Monday evening just after 8pm a traffic stop was conducted on Line 36 in West Perth. The officer had observed that the vehicle was unsafe, and during the investigation the driver was found in possession of meth. A standard field sobriety test was conducted but a drug recognition evaluation was refused. A 58 year old female of Mitchell was charged with impaired operation, trafficking a schedule 1 substance meth, refusal to comply with demand, operation of an unsafe vehicle and speeding of up to 49 km over the posted limit.

All accused have been released from custody and are schedule to appear at a Stratford court at a later date. All had their licensed suspended for 90 days and 7 day vehicle impoundment.
