The Town of Minto has agreed to revisit the idea of selling Beehive Park.

The park is a historic site of a single room schoolhouse and council has made plans to make a decision on it in September. The park is located on Wellington Road 109 between Harriston and Teviotdale.

The site is only just over 1600 square meters in size and was declared surplus at the end of 2019 with the direction for it to be sold.

The issues such as ongoing maintenance costs and issues with vandalism were given as the reasoning behind it’s declaration as surplus.

The Town purchased the property following the local section of Highway 9 being downloaded onto the County. It was purchased for $1.

In January of last year a delegation of 18 peopleĀ  spoke out against it’s sale. It was referred back to the Parks & Rec Advisory Committee at that time.

At last week’s Town of Minto Meeting there was a passed motion that put the sale of the property into being reconsidered.
