Minto council wants more information before they consider a request from Minto Pride regarding rainbow crosswalks in all 3 of the town’s urban centres.
The pride committee looked into the cost of similar crosswalk projects which range around $6000-$15,000.
Economic development manager Belinda Wick-Graham suggested the committee work towards having crosswalks in 2022 and begin to research a direction for a public art project in 2023.
The Pride committee also shared they intend to plan fundraisers and seek grants to help offset costs for the crosswalks.
While discussion regarding costs went back and forth, council approved to direct staff to prepare a report on the crosswalk proposal.
