The Town of Minto is backing the support of the provincial Green Party leader Mike Schreiner’s co-sponsored Bill 21: Protect Our Food Act.
Council passed a motion brought forward by Deputy Mayor Jean Anderson for the town to support the Bill.
If the bill is passed it would create a Foodbelt to permanently protect agricultural lands from being paved over and would build a task force of farmers, agricultural experts and land use planners to develop recommendations for a strong Foodbelt Protection Plan.
