The Minto Fire Department issues an update this afternoon on the situation with the vacant building fire that occurred in Downtown Palmerston this morning.

In it they advise that Minto Fire along with Mapleton and North Perth have wrapped up their operations at the Norman Street structure fire.

An excavator was brought in to demolish the building. Roads in the area are now reopened.

There were no injuries reported since the last update.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and officals are working on determining a damage estimate at this time.

Anyone who was a witness to the fire or who may have information about it are asked to call Crime Stoppers or the North Wellington OPP Operations Centre.

All residents who were evacuated are now able to return to their houses. The warming centre at the Palmerston Arena is now closed.

The Minto Fire thanked the Mapleton, North Perth and all of their stations for a job well done.
