Changes are coming in Minto as part of its dog licensing by law.

As it stood, dogs are licensed through the Town with yearly invoices sent to have them renewed as most new dog owners attend the office to register.

In an effort to make the process simpler for both staff and residents an introduction to the DocuPet licensing program was done which will allow residents to register their dogs online, in person or by phone and mail with staff.

Cam Forbes, Minto’s By-law Enforcement Officer says this change will also avoid having to send out hundreds of letters at the start of the year.

“Between saving money on stamps, staff time, paper and envelopes I don’t think this will cost us anything it’s pretty much a wash.” said Forbes.

Approval was given for the DocuPet program which will now go with a 365 day licensing system.

Section C 1a) needs to be amended to read:
Every owner of a dog or, within 21 days of becoming an owner of a dog, shall license and
register each dog with the Town of Minto.

Section 2. needs to be amended to read:
Every license issued pursuant to this section shall expire 365 days after the date it was
issued.
