Minto council is backing their support for the next Tri-Fire Service Strategic Plan.

Minto back in 2012 adopted a previous Master Fire Plan being the first strategic document for the Minto Fire Department with another iteration of the plan being completed in 2018.

A new plan comprising of Minto, Mapleton and Wellington North Fire has been put together from 2025-2028 which also does have some specifics for each department where required.

Deputy Fire Chief Callise Loos says over these next few years they already know some challenges coming ahead.

“Volunteer recruitment and retention will be one of those challenges. Investing or implementing initiatives to keep our firefighters engaged and employed for a long time. There’s been a huge shift in the fire service over the last few years, we’ve seen quite a large turnover due to retirements in our service.” said Loos.

Council gave their green light to adopt the Strategic Plan as presented.
