Perth County OPP is reminding residents to be vigilant after a fake charge scam which has police investigating at an address in Milverton.
Police were called on September 12th just before 9am by resident saying they were a victim of a computer scam.
The resident received a popup on their computer saying their computer was infected and to contact the number provided to fix the issue.
The scammer then gained remote access to the victims computer, compromising personal information.
The victim provided a credit card number and was billed $940.
Police say to never allow remote access to your computer unless you initiate the call and to not share personal or banking info to anyone unless you are certain of who you are dealing with.
