Midwestern Newspapers Claims 12 OCNA Better Newspapers Competition Awards

 

Midwestern Newspapers is taking home plenty of hardware in the 2022 OCNA Better Newspapers Competition.

The Listowel Banner received two first place awards with Best Headline Writing and Best Photo Layout given to Mike Wilson, Dan McNee and Janine Martin for their photo spread of the 2021 Remembrance Day ceremony.

Cory Bilyea with the Wingham Advance Times won first place in Diversity Coverage and took third place in the Best Heritage Story category.

Kelsey Bent received an honourable mention for Best Sports Photo.

Mike Wilson also took first place in Humour Columnist of the Year, Martin and Pauline Kerr placed 2nd for Best Photo Layout.

The Independent Plus earned first place in Best Vertical Product, Best Special Section and Dan McNee took first place for Best RuralStory circulation over 10,000.

Mike Wilson with Midwestern Newspapers says “its an incredible honour for all of us to be recognized by our industry peers.”

Wilson adds staff works tirelessly each and every week to produce the newspaper of record for the communities we serve, and for them to be recognized for those efforts is rewarding.
