Mental Health First Aid is taking place this weekend in Wingham.

The event is put on by Mental Health Matters Wingham and while it usually comes with a cost to take part is being offered to the community for free.

The event is open to anyone who will be at least 18 years old by the end of 2024.

Shannon Mercer, Founder of Mental Health Matters Wingham explains just exactly what this event all brings.

“Mental Health First Aid is the help given to someone who might be developing a mental health problem or experiencing a crisis. Individuals who take this training will learn about what they can do what kind of treatment they can give until the crisis is resolved or until a professional can step in.” Mercer.

Mental Health First Aid runs on May 4th and 5th from 8:30am-4:30pm at FE Madill Secondary School.

Registration is required which can be done by contacting the group over social media.
