Mapleton Township Approves Application Plan for Firefighters

Funding to purchase laptops and help firefighters with online training

 

The Township of Mapleton has approved a plan to apply for $7100 in provincial funding to assist with training firefighters in the area.

In a council meeting, Fire Chief Rick Richardson reported the Ontario Fire Marshalls announcement of $5 million in funding for municipal fire services.

The funding is intended to address challenges with training and virtual inspections due to COVID-19. With the use of laptops, firefighters can complete online and virtual training.

Richardson also saying part of the funds can be used to purchase training programs.
