More school zones across the region are getting their speeds reduced as students will be returning to the classroom in just a few weeks.
Mapleton council has voted to reduce road speeds to a maximum of 60km/hr in rural school zones. This will be a reduction of 20km/hr in areas like Centre Peel.
A reduction of speed in urban zones hasn’t yet been approved but will be addressed in the near future.
The speed reduction also will affect parks alongside the townships rural roads. While there aren’t any just yet it would apply for any future parks being built in rural areas of Mapleton.
