Local Unemployment Trickles Up in August

The Four County Labour Market Planning Board says the regions unemployment rate increased by 0.2 per cent in August which brings to the total rate to 4.5 per cent.

Job losses were the heaviest in the manufacturing and agriculture which saw the unemployment go up from these industries.

Gains were seen in fishing, forestry as well as oil and gas.

Other job gains locally for August included the services producing sector, finance, and real estate.
