An opportunity of a lifetime for March Break 2025 is open for local students in grades 4-12 to explore New York City and preform at Carnegie Hall.
Morgan Kuepfer, a music teacher at North Perth Westfield says she was contacted by Paul Aitken, a Listowel resident who performs at Carnegie Hall about getting a choir together and join him on stage.
While students will get the chance to preform at the hall, the trip will also include regular sightseeing such as the Statue of Liberty and watching a Broadway show.
Kuepfer, recalling her memories of Carnegie Hall says this truly is an opportunity not worth missing.
“It’s just like ‘Wow! Think of how many famous performers, composers, conductors, musicians who have been here’ and it’s cool to take it all in. We had a moment to sit in the hall, tour around and take it all in before we had any of our dress rehearsals.” said Kuepfer.
“Being a musician, a music educator myself it was great to have that opportunity to go and see where a lot of the music where we know had debuted”
Kuepfer adds she and fellow music teacher Claudia Prescott know Listowel has a great music community.
“Claudia and I were both really involved with our music program at Listowel Highschool and I guess we just want to bring the joy of making music and singing and being involved in the music world. We think this is a great way to kick start that.”
The trip while still a year away is now looking to hear from those interested in joining.
An info session will be held on April 25th at the Listowel Kin Station starting at 6:15pm.
