Perth County OPP is reminding the public to stay vigilant after a Perth East business was defrauded $150,000 US.

Officers were called to a business located on Line 34 in Perth East last Wednesday, September 21st.

During the investigation, it was determined that a local business was working with a vendor in Burlington to purchase a machine.

The buyer sent a wire transfer to the vendor via email that was being used to communicate.

Allegedly the vendor’s email was hacked, and the suspect was communicating on that email to the victim.

The vendor never received the money transfer.

The investigation is ongoing.
