Animal welfare advocates and heartbroken families are calling to account of signatures from one veterinarian out of Brampton who’s accused of falsifying vaccine records for puppies.
Dr. Tejwant Chahal faces accusations of falsifying documents after families report their loved furry friends passing away from parvovirus, a highly contagious and potentially fatal disease with families looking into the given vaccine records at the time of picking up their puppy, seeing the papers were signed off by Chahal.
Chahal, who operates a mobile vet travels to different licensed and unlicensed breeding kennels to supposedly vaccinate puppies against viruses such as Parvo, but a puppy who has been properly vaccinated has a slim chance of catching the virus.
Chahal’s accusations can be felt locally as the vet has signed off on papers from puppies picked up from supposed kennel breeders in Millbank and Wellesley.
Donna Power from Ontario Puppy Mills – Stop This Now says vets like Chahal work with puppy mills, who operate for profit and not for the love of the breed, accusing Chahal of never administering vaccines to begin with.
“If they’re administering the core vaccines as per protocol, a puppy would not come down with Parvo.” said Power.
The Ranch Newsroom has reached out to Chahal to respond to the accusations as well as to Kismutt Dog Rescue for comment.
A search on Chahal can find a slew of negative reviews of his practice from those who purchased puppies from supposed breeders with vaccine records from Chahal. These reviews span from Milverton to Hanover locally.
Power adds the College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO) is aware of the multiple complaints against Chahal but says they have been sitting on them for the last 32 months.
Power, alongside others have gone to the government for answers, as the CVO is overseen by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
“We’re pushing for Chahal to be suspended, CVO saying they can’t do that but the Minister of Agriculture says yes they can they just need to submit a form to us but the CVO won’t do it.” said Power.
A public demonstration is planned to take place on October 17th at 1pm outside the CVO building in Guelph to get them to act.
