Minto is up next among municipalities to start live streaming local minor sports.
Council has signed on a three year agreement with LiveBarn to start streaming at the arenas in Harriston and Palmerston.
The focus will be to have streaming up for youth and amateur sports and allow those to view who aren’t able to be at the arena.
LiveBarn is currently be used at arenas in Mapleton and Milverton.
Director of Community Services, Matthew Lubbers says it’s up to the organizations if they want their games to be recorded while also not interfering with companies like Wightman from broadcasting.
“All user groups can choose to have their activities recorded or not and this doesn’t prevent other groups to having their activities recorded in person like when WightmanTV comes and records the skating carnivals.” said Lubbers.
LiveBarn offers the streaming service on a subscription base at arenas with the three year term coming at no cost for the municipality.
