Avon Maitland District School Board Director of Education, Lisa Walsh has given out her annual report, recapping the last year across the school board and looking towards the next steps.
The most key for staff and students for the year was ensuring mental health and well being. Students for 2021-22 saw a staggering start of the year which eventually brought students back in person to class for the first time in two years.
In terms of graduation rates a total of 1153 grade 9 students entered in September 2018 which in the “four year graduate” class saw 80.23% graduate.
While this number is down from the “four year graduates” entering in September 2017 which was 81.70% it’s a leap from years prior.
Students entering in 2017 part of the “five year graduate” class saw a rate of 86.33%.
