Mount Forest won’t be seeing the chance to enjoy the Lion Roy Grant pool this season as its to stay closed for the season as voted by council.
Reports from the Interim CAO and operations director, Matthew Aston showed the pool liner in the deep end of the pool had failed and would be to be replaced at a cost of $170,000 as well as the pools deck, walls and water circulation system all failing a public health inspection.
Rather then invest in the costs for repairs, township staff made the recommendation to keep the pool closed all allocate $200,000 for a new outdoor pool in Mount Forest.
Councilors such as Sherry Burke, Steve McCabe and Dan Yake all agreed while its unfortunate, closing the pool is the better option instead of spending the money to fix the pool.
A new pool proposal was first discussed in March with some concept designs being released.
