As part of Police Week here in Ontario Huron County OPP offered a little background information on the Mobile Crisis Rapid Response Team and what their responsibilities are when they respond to a call for service. Huron OPP Officer and Mental Health Coordinator Geoff Maver offers this on the program.
“We work in conjunction with crisis workers to assist at calls where individuals may be in crisis and need some mental health support.”
The Police are joined on the team by people such as crisis workers Jen Nixon who is a Social Worker from Huron Perth Public Health to not only offer assistance, try to divert them from the ER if not needed and also connect them to places of support.
MCCRT Teams operate in Huron County, Perth County and the City of Stratford.
