Kitchener Woman Faces Charges After Abandoning Newborn Outside Monday Morning

She has been charged with child abandonment, uttering threats and breaching probation.

A 32 year old Kitchener woman is facing charges after a newborn was left outside a home in Kitchener Monday morning around 11 am.

Waterloo Regional Police responded to the scene near a home in the area of Dixon and Eckert streets.

A passerby who attempted to stop the women who was seen leaving the infant was threatened at the scene.

Several other people assisted police in locating the woman. The newborn is said to be safe and was assessed by the Region of Waterloo Paramedic services.

The woman is scheduled to appear in a Waterloo Region court on February 7th.
