Keystone XL Pipeline Closes

Alberta on the hook for around 1.3 billion

After years and the Alberta government spending billions in equity and loan guarantees on the Keystone XL pipeline, the TC Energy Corporation has walked away on the project.

This ends a long battle between Canada’s energy industry against environmentalists.

Construction on the pipeline came to halt earlier this year as United States President Joe Biden fulfilled a campaign promise in January.

The Alberta government says costs on the pipeline were estimated around 1.3 billion dollars.
