Last weekend outside the North Perth Public Library in Listowel, you may have seen Andrea Charest and Manny Coelho.
As part of this months “This is Home” campaign, both stayed outside for 24 straight hours to help raise more awareness on the local homelessness issue. The goal to raise $2400, 100 per hour they stayed outside went way beyond expectations, raising $24,000.
Andrea says it was more than just raising money, hearing stories from those who stopped by was one of the biggest pushers.
“People came out and shared their stories with us. Taking these stories from the darkness and putting them in the light is what we wanted to do.” said Charest
Both Andera and Manny were only armed with what It Takes a Village would offer someone in need. Both were truly thankful from those who donated, stopped by to share stories or just offered support in anyway possible.
