It seems when it comes to impaired driving Huron County drivers aren’t getting the message.
The Huron County OPP released the results of their recently completed Festive RIDE campaign that finished on January 2nd.
The Region saw 21 drivers charged with impaired operation by police. Provincially the number sits at 655.
The 21 is an increase from 6 that were charged during the 2020 campaign.
A full third of the drivers charged were impaired by drugs and not alcohol.
There were 230 RIDE checks completed during the campaign as opposed to 183 during the previous campaign.
The OPP remind drivers that a RIDE check can occur at anytime through the year on the roads, trails and waterways.
They ask anyone to report suspected impaired drivers to police.
