Impaired driver crashes vehicle south of Clinton

Driver and passenger found to be in possession of Schedule 1 Substances

Two residents of South Huron are facing charges following a crash yesterday morning south of Clinton.

Yesterday at 5:49 am Huron County OPP and Huron County Paramedics responded to a single vehicle collision on London Road south of Clinton.

Upon arrival officers located a sports utility vehicle that had struck a hydro pole and had rolled onto its hood.

Fortunately for the occupants they escaped the crash with minimal injuries.

The subsequent investigation revealed the unlicensed driver was operating the vehicle while impaired by a drug. Additionally the driver and passenger were found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Huron OPP Detachment where they completed an evaluation by a Drug recognition Evaluator. The driver was deemed to be impaired by a drug.

A 25 year old of Exeter was charged with impaired operation, resisting a peace officer and possession of a scheduled 1 substance methamphetamine.

A 40 year old from Exeter has been charged with possession of a schedule 1 substance methamphetamine, possession of a schedule 1 substance opioid and 2 counts of failure to comply with a probation order.

Both accused have been released from custody and will appear on May 3rd at a Goderich court to answer to charges.
