Impaired driver arrested in Huron East after single vehicle crash

A driver from the Bradford area will have to make a return trip to Huron County later this spring for a court appearance after he was charged with past weekend for Impaired Operation.

At approximately midnight on May 2nd Huron County OPP responded to a report of a single motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Blyth Road and McNaught Line.

Upon arrival investigators located a vehicle approximately 100 meters off the roadway, south of Blyth Road in a field.

While speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver was displaying several signs of impairment. As a result the driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests.

Two breath samples were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both were found to be over the legal limit.

A 72 year old male of Bradford-West Gwillimbury has been charged with operation while impaired & operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.

The accused has been released from custody with a court date of June 14th at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich. The accused vehicle was towed and impounded.

Additionally he was served with an automatic 90 day driver’s license suspension.
