Huron Perth Public Health offers weekly snapshot of state of Covid-19

New Directive 3 at LTC and Retirement Homes allows lower of restrictions based on percentage of vaccinated occupants

  • 1594 total confirmed cases since start of the pandemic

 

  • There are 2 Huron Perth residents in hospital due to Covid-19
  • 8 total Covid-19 patients in Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance Region with 7 in the area ICU’s
  • 32 active cases including 14 presumptive positive VOC’s

 

  • There has been an 1 additional resident pass away with Covid-19 contributing causes bringing to 53

 

  • There was an outbreak declared on April 30th for Fordwich Village with 2 staff cases. No more cases confirmed after subsequent testing
  • Facility has 100% of residents and 85% of staff vaccinated

 

  • New directive for Long-Term-Care and Retirement home states (Directive 3) which states that the higher the vaccination rate of a facility will permit less health restrictions in a facility. This reflects that the more unvaccinated staff/residents there are the higher the risk.

 

  • 1 outbreak in a congregate setting and 1 workplace outbreak declared yesterday afternoon

 

  • 49,323 vaccination doses administered in Huron Perth as of May 4th

 

  • Goal in Province was 40% of eligible residents vaccinated by May 1st. We achieved 39.8% coverage in Huron Perth by that deadline
  • (population aged 18 and over in the Province, 16 and over locally in Huron Perth)

 

  • Locally HPPH will not lowering eligibility for Pfizer vaccine to 12 from the current 16 and over

 

  • As of Thursday, May 6th the eligibility in HP will be expanded
    • those turning 50 and over in 2021 (born 1971 or earlier)
    • People who cannot work from home who live in Group
  • 40 and over continue to be eligible for vaccination at Pharmacies
  • HPPH will be closing vaccination booking system from 4:30pm today and reopen it tomorrow for maintenance

 

 

  • They expect it to be busy when it reopens on Thursday so be patient with any issues encountered

 

  • There will be enough vaccine for everyone as their age group becomes available.
