There have been 1200 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Huron Perth since the start of the Pandemic. There have been 17 cases added since yesterday. There are 117 cases active.

There are 6 people in hospital. There have been 3 more deaths connected to the outbreak at Caressant Care in Listowel brining the total there to 13. There are 37 cases active at Seaforth Manor among residents and 8 amongst staff.

The first doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered to all residents of Long Term Care Homes and high risk residents of Retirement Homes. Other priority populations being vaccinated are staff and essential caregivers at LTC and high risk Retirement Homes when supply permits. Residents, staff and essential caregivers of congregate settings are also a priority as the goal is to prevent as many deaths as possible.

There will be 4 regions returning to school on February 1st but Huron Perth is not one of them. Decisions are made at the provincial level, by the Ministry of Education and in consultation with Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health.

With today being Bell Let’s Talk Day HPPH wants to acknowledge how difficult the pandemic is affecting every resident of Huron Perth and how it’s had negative health impacts on many.
