Huron Perth Public Health Advises Omicron Variant Spreading Rapidly Across Region

Variant identified November 28th already makes up 30% of all Cases In Region

Huron Perth Public Health sent a news release Tuesday advising residents that the Omicron variant is spreading rapidly across the Region. They add that now is the time to take action to protection yourself and your loved ones as much as possible.

They say that Omicron shows a greater ability to spread among people compared to previous Covid-19 variants. HPPH says the first case was identified November 28th and already makes up at least 30% of all provincial cases.

Public Health advises residents to isolate if you comein contact with a Covid-19 cases, regardless of your vaccination status.

All close contacts of a positive Covid-19 case are required to self-isolate for 10 days regardless of vaccination status. This is from the date of close contact.

They say to get your third booster dose as soon as you are eligible.

And they add to limit contacts and gatherings as much as possible. Those limits are currently 10 people indoors at private dwellings and anyone 12 years and older should be vaccinated. Anyone unvaccinated should avoid any non-essential indoor contact with those people not part of their household.

They also advise all workers that can work remotely should.
