Using updated data from the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction on Alcohol and Health, Huron-Perth residents are consuming more alcohol and putting themselves in high risk compared to the rest of the province.
Huron-Perth Public Health says 26 per cent of residents aged 19 and older are at a higher risk for alcohol related consequences compared to Ontario average of 21%.
Updated last month, adults who consumer 3-6 alcoholic drinks a week are at moderate risk, increasing chances of types of cancer. 7 or more is considered at a higher risk of heart disease or strokes.
The risk factors take into consideration of injuries’, violence and several chronic diseases.
