The Municipality of Huron East has unveiled a plaque in honour of their late Economic Development Officer Jan Hawley.

Jan held the position for over 10 years, and was a tireless champion for the betterment of the Huron East community.

Her positive attitude and dynamic energy helped change the spirit of Seaforth and the area.

The initiatives launched during her time included the Win This Space, the Shop Seaforth website, Promotional video “Looking Out my Back Door” about the Downtown Dig along with the accompanying plaque and mural project.

Jan was lost back in 2021 at the age of 68 and in honour of her legacy the Ontario Business Improvement Area Association awards the Jan Hawley Memorial Pinacle Award.

Tracey Sills McKee said of Hawley in her post about the event that she was a lady she had a hard time saying no to her ideas and added she’s so glad she said yes.

The plaque in her honour is located in front of the Seaforth BIA office.
