Huron County OPP and the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines and Natural Resources and Forestry are reminding residents of tips to reduce their chances of attracting bears and what to do should you encounter one.
This comes following an officer responding to a bear sighting in Goderich on Monday night just after 9:30pm.
A bear had climbed a tree on Krohmer Drive and remained up on the tree until onlookers were cleared from the area from OPP.
Once clear, the bear climbed down the tree eventually up another at the corner of Suncoast Drive before eventually leaving the area running eastbound along Suncoast Drive.
The best ways to reduce attracting bears include putting garbage in containers with tight lids, washing containers frequently to reduce odours and putting out garbage the morning of garbage collection and not the night before.
