Huron County OPP alongside South Bruce OPP kicked off Project Red Ribbon on Monday.
OPP as well as volunteers with Huron-Bruce Mothers Against Drunk Driver conducted a RIDE program in Clinton to create awareness and check for any potential impaired drivers.
Officers reported around 200 vehicles had passed through the checkpoint with everyone found to be complying and driving sober.
Sergeant Russ Nesbitt from Huron County OPP has the following advice for drivers,
“Drivers should expect to see enhanced patrols and RIDE checks during the festive season. Driving sober is always the right choice. If you choose to drink or use drugs call a taxi, phone a frien d, stay the night or have some other plan to get home safely. Please do the right thing and only drive if you are sober”.
Project Red Ribbon is an annual awareness campaign to promote sober driving during the holiday season.
