Huron County OPP have charged a British Columbia resident with Impaired Operation and drug possession charges after a traffic stop in Seaforth in early June.
On June, 6th, sat about 1:11 a.m., a Huron County officer was conducting patrols in Seaforth when the officer came across a parked vehicle on Main Street South. The officer observed that the driver seemed to be sleeping behind the wheel so she stopped to check on the driver’s condition by waking and then speaking with the driver.
The officer noted that the driver was displaying several signs of impairment by way of a drug. A Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted and the driver performed poorly, which resulted in the driver being transported to the Ingersoll OPP Detachment for further testing by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).
\It was after these tests that the driver was deemed to be impaired. Officers also found the driver to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and an opioid.
The 50-year-old from British Columbia has been charged with Operation while Impaired, Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine, and Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid.
He has been released from custody and a court appearance is scheduled for July 18, 2022, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich.
