Huron County councilor and Huron East Mayor Bernie MacLellan did not hold back on his disappointment in a case of illegal dumping.
MacLellan spoke saying at a meeting last month it was found somebody dumped hundreds of gallons of paint at the entrance of the Mid-Huron landfill in Central Huron.
A report also noted OPP found the company responsible but no charges were laid. MacLellan speaking during a county council meeting cited his real problems with the entire incident.
“There’s something wrong with our system if the OPP aren’t willing to follow up and do something here. To me this was a serious issue and asking Central Huron to have to come up with a bylaw to say ‘you can’t be dumping hazardous waste at our doorstep without our permission’ is wrong.” said MacLellan.
Fellow councilors agreed with MacLellan who voted to send letters of their disappointment to the OPP and Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks.
