Humane Society Warns Pet Owners – Hot Cars Kill

While cooler temperatures are coming for the night, the region is still under a heat wave and now officially being in the summer, the local humane society is reminding pet owners, hot cars kill.

The Kitchener-Waterloo & Stratford-Perth Humane Society says even on fairly mild days with the car parked in the shade with the windows down, cars can still reach deadly temperatures fast with animals especially dogs and cats having a limited ability to sweat.

Victoria Baby, CEO of the humane society says leaving your pet unattended in a vehicle is not only one of the most irresponsible things a pet owner can do but its also illegal with pet owners being subject to fines and charges under the Provincial Animal Welfare Services Act and under local bylaws.
