The Wellington County OPP is investigating after human remains were located in Wellington North Township.
Yesterday shortly after 6:30pm officers responded to a location, just south of Mount Forest, where an individual had reported finding human remains in the bush in a rural area.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Wellington County OPP Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario.
A post mortem examination will be conducted in an attempt to identify the remains and determine a cause of death.
Investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.
The investigation is in the early stages and more information will be released by the police when it becomes available.
