Huron Perth Public Health held a media conference call Sunday to update on the ongoing outbreak occurring at Cedarcroft Retirement Home in Stratford.
Lily Goodman, Chief Operating Officer of All Seniors Care (who owns & operates Cedarcroft) reported that the first resident was diagnosed with Covid 19 on October 27th. An outbreak at the facility was declared the same day.
The active cases at the home have risen to 60. There are now 18 staff that have been diagnosed with Covid 19 and 42 residents. 4 residents have unfortunately passed away. Testing is still ongoing with those asymptomatic and testing negative.
10 residents from the home were transferred Saturday to Hospital (5 Covid positive and 5 Covid negative with other health issues). The destination hospitals of Covid 19 positive patients have not been disclosed.
The residents planned for movement today are these with less critical medical conditions. The criteria for who goes to hospital is a decision between the treating doctor and the resident involved.
Cedarcroft is setting up a 24 hour hotline for family members to call for inquiries regarding the outbreak. They are aiming to get back to calls within 1 hour between 9 am and 9pm and within 4 hours outside of those hours. The number is the home’s phone number of (519) 273-0030.
There are 2 community physicians present at Cedarcroft assisting with the care of residents.
