HPHA endorses possibility of required vaccination for Staff

Move by Board comes in efforts to strengthen vaccine confidence in Huron Perth

Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance has approved measures in efforts to strengthen vaccine confidence for staff, physicians and midwives that includes implementing mandatory Covid-19 vaccinations.

Ron Lavoie Chair of the HPHA Board says that their primary accountability is for the safety of those receiving care at their four hospital sites and as one of the largest employers in Huron and Perth Counties they feel it’s important to reinforce how essential vaccines are to all of us.

Currently 88 percent of staff, 93 percent of physicians and 89 percent of midwives have at least 1 dose of vaccine. With 83, 92 and 81 percent fully vaccinated.

Those members of their staff who decide not to be vaccinated will need to participate in Covid-19 education and undergo regular covid-19 testing prior to their shift.

Volunteers are now required to be fully vaccinated before volunteer programs are reintroduced.
